Consider Folklore and how it can pass down culture. Dundes pointed out that culture is transmitted, information is transmitted, through folklore. This can be everything from urban legends, to music, to writing on bathroom walls. Can you think of a bit of folklore from your experience that taught you or a friend something, or warned of something, or passed on some information about culture in a way less “formal” than mythology or religion? Please share it.
Interpret it, please: what lesson or information do you think was being passed on? And was there more than one thing being taught or warned of?
