Check out the list of federally recognized tribes (Links to an external site.) published by the Federal Register. Choose one, and search the internet for their official website. Once you’ve found it, locate information about tribal citizenship/enrollment/membership. Many tribes have areas of their websites dedicated specifically to this crucial aspect of tribal governance. For example, there can be enrollment applications for you to view, links to a tribal constitution or other enrollment ordinances, genealogical resources, and other relevant information or forms regarding the specific tribe’s laws. What does your selected tribe require? If applicable, what other citizenship/enrollment/membership information does the tribe make available (i.e. enrollment applications, etc.)? How does what you found relate to our class so far? Make sure you let us know what tribe you chose, and describe any other relevant thoughts and/or questions you have after reviewing the material.Take some time to click around the website to find the information. If there is none listed, then you’ll have to pick a different tribe.
